This student’s college is all praise for her academic ability and her keen energy to participate in co-curricular activities. However, due to inability to pay the course fee, the student’s family has been pressuring her to get married instead of continuing her education.
The student’s father sells tender coconuts in a roadside stall since 2013. Earlier, he had a job in a small company but that closed down. Both the father and mother are uneducated. The elder brother enrolled in a diploma course but has several arrears pending. He is unemployed and at home, often demanding money from the parents.
The student is keen to support her parents once she completes her education and make a better life for herself. Her father had taken loans from local moneylenders on high interest for the first two years of her undergraduate course and Aalayam has supported her for 3rd year.
After Aalayam’s review, it has been decided to support the student with Rs.15,000 for her fourth-year fees.
